Granite worktops V Quartz worktops

The main difference is that granite is naturally formed over millions of years and quartz is man made from a mixture of generally between 93-95% natural quartz held together with polymers and resins.

The other main difference is that quartz is non porous and granite has varying levels of porosity normally the darker granites are less porous as they are very dense and lighter granite are more porous. Quartz worktops are also more uniform in appearance and are not subject to veining and pitting like marble and granite worktops.

Both granite worktops and quartz are very hardwearing durable surfaces and both have a rating of 7 on the mohs hardness scale.  The durability of granite and quartz mean they are perfect for kitchen worktops.
